J-Dunc on godliness

“The deepest life of godliness may co-exist with muddled doctrine. But this is no argument in favour of obscurity” (John M. Brentnall, Just A Talker: Sayings of John (‘Rabbi’) Duncan, p. 84).

C-Dunc: That may be granted to a certain degree, J-Dunc, but when taken too far you have the insurmountable task of distinguishing between a false christ and a merely muddled true Christ; between a false gospel, and simply muddled true gospel; between a darkened idol and an obscurely seen true and living God; between bad and corrupt fruit and merely good yet somewhat or sorta badly obscured fruit.
