Joints Out of Place

My posting of this is not an endorsement of Perkins as a true Christian, or even a blanket-agreement with what he says here below. Like many of my previous posts on “vocation,” this is primarily for interest’s sake.

“Men outside their proper callings are like joints out of place in the body; in finding his proper place, each must examine both his ‘affections’ and his gifts. And that they the better judge aright, for what calling their children are fit, they must observe two things in them: first, their inclination; secondly, their natural gifts” (William Perkins, Treatise of Vocations).
